Wen Wen is a PhD candidate in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI). She received her Masters Degree in Enterprise Management from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in June, 2008. During her postgraduate study, she has been focused on the innovation theory and the practices of science parks. She has two periods of internship in Optics Valley of China·Wuhan (OVC, also named as Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone), based on which she wrote her Masters thesis about the Triple Helix model (government-university-industry relations) of Science Parks in China, specifically, of OVC.
Observing the world-wide recognition of creative industries and the flourish of creative agglomeration (planned or spontaneous), her current research is aiming to explore whether the creative clusters can be planned like the science parks and what are the best management practices for them. With a comparative study of Creative Industries Precinct (CIP) at QUT and one or more creative clusters respectively in London and Shanghai, she begins with examining the influence of planned and spontaneous factors in the formation and development of creative clusters and precincts.
