The Irmgard Coninx Foundation, a non-profit- organization, was founded in Munich in 2001. In association with the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and the Humboldt-University Berlin, the Irmgard Coninx Foundation organizes the Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality. The Roundtables provide a forum for international young academics and journalists to discuss the political and social challenges facing a global civil society.
The Irmgard Coninx Foundation is based on the idea that some of the profits made by a media company should be used to promote public debates. The Berlin Roundtables are hoping to contribute to an international discourse about the phenomenon of transnationality.
New Essay Competition - Health Politics in an Interconnected World
The 13th Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality will be held on the topic "Health Politics in an Interconnected World" (WZB, Berlin, 1 - 5 December, 2010).
How can national governments and international agencies respond to global challenges of health and social well-being? How do local realities influence global health discourses, technologies, and regulatory approaches? What kind of methodological instruments do different disciplines provide in order to study and account for evidence?
The Irmgard Coninx Foundation, in cooperation with the WZB and Humboldt-University Berlin, invites young scholars and experts from the field to participate in the essay competition for the upcoming Roundtables.
